Abstract

[Also in Division H5] In a furnace or stove, e.g. a stove enamelling furnace, wherein the lateral walls and the arch comprise thin metallic strips 1 forming electric resistance heaters and supporting outer thermal insulation, a closed hot air circuit is provided incorporating a longitudinal discharge conduit 17 and collecting conduit 18, a fan 19, a heat exchanger or combustion chamber 21, and ducting 20. The strips 1 are suspended by ties 6 from a framework 7 and ties incorporating expansion compensating springs 8. A modifica tion; Fig. 2 (not shown), has transverse conduit replacing conduits 17 and 18. A further modification, Fig. 4, comprises heating strips 31 suspended by rollers and springs 33 in the upper part and brackets 34 at the sides, the ends of the strip being held at the electrical connections 31a and 31b by tension springs 35. The insulation 36 is located between sheets 37 and 38 of thin, ribbed or dimpled aluminium or stainless steel, or of asbestos based material. Air heated by burners in the combustion chamber 45 is circulated by a fan 43 through longitudinal conduit 39, between the strip 31 and the insulation and into a lower conduit 42 for recirculation.
