Abstract

The invention comprises compounds having the formula: <FORM:0979897/C1/1> wherein R represents an alkyl radical having at least two carbon atoms and Ac represents an acyl radical and processes for the preparation thereof in which a 4, 5-secogon-9-ene-3, 5-dione compound having the formula <FORM:0979897/C1/2> is cyclized in an alkaline medium to yield the corresponding desired compound. Cyclization may be effected with sodium tert-amylate. Specification 979,898 also is referred to.
