Abstract
979,641. Groynes. S. M. WOOD. April 4, 1961, No. 11983/61. Heading E1H. A groyne 1 for resisting the littoral flow of material along a fore-shore comprises one or more walls extending from the shore end 3 outwardly to the seaward end 4, each wall comprising rows of longitudinal members disposed one above the other, at least some of the members being castellated, and said wall (formed of longitudinally abutting sections 2) defining interspaces of progressively increasing cross-sectional area whereby the groyne provides outwardly increasing permeability to the transverse through flow of water.
