Abstract
A composition that hardens on heating comprises a copolymer of 40-65% by wt. of methyl methacrylate, 25-45% by wt. of an alkyl acrylate containing not more than 12 C atoms and 10-15% by wt. of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, a polyepoxide, an organic base catalyst, and a solvent. The exemplified epoxide is a condensation product of diphenylol propane with epichlorohydrin. The exemplified acid is acrylic acid and the other comonomers may be ethyl, butyl, and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate. The polyepoxide may be present in an amount greater than 15 parts per 100 parts of polymer, and the catalyst in an amount of 0.1 to 2.0 parts per 100 parts of copolymer.
