Abstract
978,058. Convertible vehicles. H. E. G. BENNETT. Oct. 9, 1963 [Dec. 5, 1962], No. 45947/62. Heading B7B. The part A of a vehicle body telescopes inside the lower part B and is raised and lowered by four cables 19 secured at their mid-length to a winding drum 5 rotatable about a vertical axis by a manually-operated drive mechanism. The ends of each cable 19 are passed over pulleys 21, 22 to pulleys 20 which lead the cables vertically up the corners of the structure where one cable end is secured directly to the upper part A and the other passes over a pulley secured to the part B to lead the cable end downwardly to its securing point on the part A.
