Abstract

978,020. Route setting. MULLARD Ltd. June 6, 1963 [Oct. 11, 1962], No. 38565/62. Heading B7N. [Also in Division H3] Points 30, Fig. 3, in the path of an approaching train in section Y are locked for a predetermined period after a colour light signal 33 is changed to red, the arrangement preventing route switching from section W to section Z while the possibility exists of the points being changed under the train if the signal is overrun. As shown in Fig. 4, if the signal 33 is red an input is applied to an AND gate 38, and if an input 49 is also applied to the gate an output 50 is obtained which releases the point lock. The input 49 is obtained from an OR gate 37 which is opened by an input 44 indicating that section Y is unoccupied or by an input 45 if the section Z is occupied. Gate 37 is also opened by an input 46 which is obtained from the red light input 48 through a delay device 39 providing, for example, a 30-second delay. When an output is obtained from gate 38 a " stick " input is applied to the gate through gate 37. The input 44 is obtained from an AND gate 35 which is opened by a Y clear input 43 and a simultaneous input 42 from an OR gate 34, the latter gate being opened if section X is clear (input 40) or if colour light signal 31 is free of approach locking (input 41). Details of the delay device are disclosed (see Division H3).
