Abstract

977,667. Perches for birdcages. G. S. K. SWIFT. Sept. 23, 1963 [Sept. 21, 1962], No. 37279/63. Heading A1M. A perch for cage-birds comprises two superposed rods of which the upper rod 1 is made of a soft material, e.g. softwood, and affords a rest surface, and the lower rod 2 is made of an abrasive composition for grinding the birds' claws, the width of the lower rod being greater than that of the upper rod. The rods are held together by sleeves or sockets 3 having grooves 4 for attachment to the cage wires. The perch may be adapted as a rocking perch in which case the rods are held together by a steel loop at either end, the loop being attached to a hook attachment to the cage roof.
