Abstract

977,629. Concrete mixers. STOTHERT & PITT Ltd. Nov. 23, 1962 [Nov. 24, 1961], No. 42188/61. Heading B1C. An annular pan type mixer has mixing blades mounted on spider arms 9 carried by a hub 8 rotating with or about a central shaft 5 and driven through a gear ring 14, which is carried outside the outer wall 2 of the pan by extensions of the spider arms, by a prime mover 18 (which may be a hydraulic or electric motor or a Diesel engine), reduction gearbox 17 and gear 15. A feed shoot 20 mounted on and rotating with the hub 8 has a central inlet 22 and an outlet 23 below the level of the arms 9. There are scraper blades 13 adjacent the outer wall of the pan, plough blades 30 adjacent the inner wall to direct material outwards, and mixing blades 12. Water may be added in metered amounts by spray nozzles in a pipe 29. A semicircular or sector-shaped discharge door 24 is provided in the bottom of the pan, being hinged at 25 and activated by a ram 26. The mixing pan cover 19 also protects the gearing 14, 15. The walls and floor of the mixing pan are fitted with detachable wear plates.
