A flanged sheet is shaped to curved form in a machine having parallel cylindrical rolls 5, 29, 30, Fig. 4, of which at least one roll (5, as shown) is provided with slots 22, Fig. 1, which are provided for the purpose of guiding the flanges of the sheet and are individually adjustable in width and position by the longitudinal displacement of the slot-forming members. The sheet to be shaped is passed between the rolls 5, 29 while these are simultaneously rotated by a hand-wheel 12 and bent by a third roll 30 which is mounted for adjustment in the direction of the arrow F. The lower roll 5 is provided near each end with a keyed collar, 21, Fig. 5, coacting with a screw-threaded ring 20 to provide a guide slot 22 of adjustable thickness for the reception of a flange of the sheet, adjustment of the position of the slot being effected by axial movement of the collar and ring. The roll 30 may be in the form of a plain roll or incorporate three sets of rings 34, 35, Fig. 1, the end ones of which are adjustable and receive the flanges of the sheet and the central one of which bears against the sheet; alternatively, this roll may consist of two telescopic sections each with a flange-receiving slot. The inlet side of the machine may additionally be fitted with a number of small feed rolls 37, Fig. 4, carried by stirrups 38.
