Abstract

In the examples: (16) 2-phenyl-4:6-dichloro-s-triazine is made by reacting cyanurc chloride with phenyl magnesium bromide; (17) 2-phenyl-4:6-diphenoxy-s-triazine is made by reacting 2-phenyl-4:6 dichloro-s-triazine with phenol; (18) 2-dimethylamino-4:6-dichloro-s-triazine is made by reacting dimethylamine with cyanuric chloride; (19) 2-dimethylamino-4:6-diphenoxy -striazine is made by reacting 2-dimethylamino-4:6-dichoro -striazine with phenol; (20) 2-diethylamino-4:6-dichloro -striazine and 2-diethylamino-4:6-diphenoxy -striazine are made by methods analogous to those described in examples (18) and (19) respectively and (21) 2:4-diphenoxy -striazine is made by reacting sodium phenoxide with cyanuric chloride to produce 2-chloro-4:6-diphenoxy -striazine which is then hydrogenated.ALSO:A process for the polymerization of an omega lactam containing at least 3 ring carbon atoms to a solid carboxylamide comprises heating, at a temperature above the melting point of the omega-lactam but below that of the resulting polymer, a reaction mixture consisting essentially of the lactam, an anionic catalyst which is the reaction product of an omega-lactam and a strong base, and, as co-catalyst, a symmetrical triazine derivative of the formula <FORM:0977359/C3/1> where R1 is an aryloxy, alkaryloxy or nitroaryloxy radical or a halogen atom and R2 and R3 are hydrogen or halogen atoms or alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, alkaryl, aryloxy, alkaryloxy, nitroaryloxy, alkoxy or dialkylamino radicals.
