Abstract

977,030. Coating with pre-formed sheets. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO. Ltd. July 10, 1962 [July 26, 1961], No. 27089/61. Heading B6G. [Also in Division H1] A toroidal core 1 of ceramic material comprising an outer peripheral groove containing layers of magnetic material 2, the groove being closed by an annular aluminium ring 3, is supported on an air-pervious support 5 in a vacuum chamber 6 closed by a sheet 9 of polypropylene. Heat from a radiant heating means 11 softens the sheet 9, which moves into configuration 9b owing to air expansion. Vacuum is applied through the pipe 7, and the sheet assumes the configuration 9c. The parts of the sheet stretched across the central opening of the core and those outside the outer periphery are cut away. The core is then turned upsidedown and a second sheet similarly applied. A third sheet is applied in the original attitude of the core. The encapsulated core is used as a transductor for a magnetic amplifier.
