976,987. Sausage making. A. HANDTMANN, [trading as ALBERT HANDTMANN [firm of] ]. May 5, 1961 [May 5, 1960; April 8, 1961,] No. 16483/61. Addition to 877,349. Heading A2B. The sausage machine described in the parent Specification is modified by having a holding device 22 on the exit end of the nozzle 5 for gripping the sausage skin 6 on the nozzle 5, comprising elastic rings 35 (Fig. 3) which press radially inwardly on to the skin with a pressure determined by the tightness with which ring 37 is screwed against rings 36. This device 22 is rotated with the nozzle 5 by gears 23 and 28. To place fresh sausage skin on the nozzle 5 the holding device 20 is displaced to the left by the lever 29 and is then pivoted on the axle 27 to swing it clear of the nozzle. In a modification, Fig. 4, one of the rubber rings 35 is replaced by a hollow resilient ring 43 which grips the skin when pressure is introduced into its cavity 45. This occurs cyclically at the same time as pressure is introduced into the sausagegripping bellows of the parent case. In a further modification, Fig. 5, a single rubber ring 35 is employed, and three grooved rollers 57 arranged symmetrically about the neck of the sausage. In this modification the finished sausages are guided down an inclined shoot 64 by an adjustable pressure roller 70.
