Abstract
976,788. Wigs &c. J. B. A. DAMET. April 16, 1963 [April 18, 1962], No. 14911/63. Heading A4V. [Also in Division B5] Wigs, false hair switches &c. are made by welding prepared strips B1, B2, B3, B4 to an apertured support 3 of net or gauze without the assistance of a backing layer of thermoweldable material. The strips, each consisting of bunches of hair C1, C2, C3, C4, held between two narrow bands 1, 2 of thermoweldable material which are welded together, are arranged in spaced parallel relation on the support and welded thereto by softening to engage around the meshes or stitches of a support as shown at the right hand side of the Figure. The bands may be of polyvinyl chloride and the softening is preferably effected by localised heating by means of high frequency currents through narrow electrodes. In modifications strips are arranged so that the hair bunches are laid flat in the same direction or the middle part of the bunch is held by the bands. The process is described as an improvement on that of French Specification 1,301,935 wherein a backing layer of thermoweldable material is used.
