In a modification of a boot and shoe cleaning machine as described in Specification 958,613 the annular member 114 has an inner cleaning surface composed of equal sections 124, 125, one for each cleaning purpose. The annular member is oscillatingly driven through the gear-wheel 128, coupling rod 133 and crank disc 135 from the motor shaft 138 such that the maximum amplitude of oscillation is less than the length of one segment. The segments are removably secured to the annular member and may be brushes.
