Abstract
976,520. Fishing gear. FLYGTO PUMPAR A.B., and S. ENGLESSON. March 7, 1963 [March 7, 1962], No. 9093/63. Heading A1A. Fish caught in a trawl 1 or a seine are pumped by a pump 4 along a suction line 3 and discharged through a tube 8 into an elongated flexible container 6 adapted to float at the sea surface. The container may be made of cellular plastic. The pump 4 is either rigidly or swingably secured to the fishing vessel 2 or is a separate floating unit detachably coupled to the container 6 by a bracket 5 and is driven electrically or hydraulically. A conduit 11 either connects the pump to a driving source on the fishing vessel or supplies energy or fuel to a driving motor on the pump itself. The container 6, when full, is towed by the vessel to the landing port, the bracket 5 or another bracket (not shown) at the other end of the container being connected to a towing line. A further bracket may be provided for a flag. The end of the container remote from the intake end has a detachable rectangular or conical latticed wall 9 for the discharge of the water and a net partition 12 extends diagonally across the container and has a lower portion 13 which is either impervious or provided with small openings. When the container is full the lower portion 13 of the partition 12 covers the latticed outlet wall 9 and causes an overflow at the inlet. A latticed opening 9a is also provided at the inlet end of the container. The upperside of the container is provided with a row of air chambers 10 which may be spaced or the upper side may be wave shaped to form a series of air pockets. The air chambers may be inflated from a compressed gas source on the vessel or from a compressed air cartridge supported by the container. The chambers may have inherent expansivity and be provided with non- return valves permitting air to enter when the container is unrolled from a rolled up condition. In a modification the inlet to the container is below sea level and is provided with a non-return valve.
