975,228. Diaphragm pumps. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Nov. 7, 1963, No. 43978/63. Heading F1A. The diaphragm 52 of a pump is connected to a plunger 48 passing through a fixed guide 56 and provided with a seal 44; the plunger has a head 74 engaged through steel, rubber and nylon washers by a spring retainer 82 having a neck 84 slidable on the plunger and engageable with forked ends 70 of a rocker arm 62; a spring 86 is disposed between the retainer 82 and the casing 14. Before mounting, the neck 84 engages the guide 56 and provides a clearance for the insertion of the arm 62.
