Abstract

974,865. Selective signalling systems. SIEMAG FEINMECHANISCHE WERKE G. m. b. H. Dec. 16, 1960 [Jan.20, 1960], No. 43305/60. Heading G4H. The position of a shaft is controlled by supplying pulses, corresponding in number to the desired position, to a ring counter Z 1 -Z n and comparing the desired position with the present position stored in one of bi-stable stages S 1 -S n to determine the shortest route to the new position. After entering the new position in the ring counter, n pulses are supplied on input 1 to cycle the counter, and while this is taking place, a bistable device B is triggered to operate a twoposition switch W when the active stage of the ring counter is transferred from Zn to Z 1 , and also one of coincidence gates K 1 -K n provides a pulse on L1 when the momentarily active stage of the ring counter corresponds to the active stage in store S 1 -S n . The coincidence pulse passes to either output I or output II depending on whether or not device B has been previously triggered. The coincidence pulse is also used to reset stages S 1 -S n , and some time later the desired position is transferred from Z 1 -Z n to S 1 -S n through gates T 1 -T n in order to effect the re-positioning of the shaft.
