Abstract
973,197. Valves. LEE WILSON ENGINEERING CO. Inc. Oct. 14, 1963 [April 8, 1963], No. 40381/63. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] Valves D controlling the passage of hot gases between two metal heating furnaces H, H<SP>1</SP> comprise discs 6 with flanges 7 dependent into a low M.P. alloy 82 in troughs 8 provided with water cooling tubes 77,78. The alloy melts at about 400 F. and if the temperature rises over 600 F., a thermostatic control valve is arranged to increase the water flow. Each valve is operated by a rod 9 driven by a motor 13 through rack-and-pinion gearing 11, 12 disposed in a gas-tight housing 14. Specification 878,497 is referred to.
