[Also in Divisions B8 and F1] In a packaging machine (see Division B8) a dispensing device is actuated by an extension 51a of a wormwheel 51 which is rotatably carried by a shaft 50 driven by the machine, the angular position of the wheel 51 relative to the shaft 50 being varied by means of an electric motor 60 mounted on a plate 53 rotating with the shaft 50 to vary the timing of the contents dispensing relative to the other packaging operations. The motor 60 drives a worm 59 which engages a wheel 58 mounted on a shaft 56. A second worm mounted on the shaft 56 engages the wheel 51. The motor may be switched on while the shaft 50 is rotating or at rest and is connected to a switch by slip-ring 62, rigidly fastened to the shaft 50 with suitable insulation, which co-operate with brushes 63.
