Abstract

973,053. Electrically operated camera mechanisms. AGFA A.G. Sept. 11, 1962 [Sept. 16, 1961], No. 34742/62. Heading G2A. In a camera having film advancing means and/ or shutter setting means operable by an electric motor, with a switch in the motor circuit, a first means is provided for holding the switch open in the idle position of the camera, a second means including a member of the shutter mechansim and operable during the shutter running down movement to maintain the switch open, the arrangement being such that on actuating the camera release, the second means is rendered operative (to keep the switch open), and then the first means is rendered inoperative, so that as the second means becomes inoperative again after the shutter has run down, the switch is closed to operate the motor, which itself breaks the circuit again at the completion of its running period. Fig. 1 shows one form of the mechanism in the rest position. The contacts 4a, 4b in the motor circuit are maintained open by a lug 6b of a lever 6 spring-loaded anticlockwise about a pivot 5. A lug 6a at the other end of lever 6 enters a recess 8a in a disc 8. Coaxial with disc 8 is a follow-up disc 10, coupled to disc 8 by a spring 11. Disc 10 is maintained against its spring-loading by a lug 2b at the lower end of the camera release 2. When this release is depressed, first of all a lug 2a pivots a member 16 to release the shutter. At the same time a pin 17 is moved counter-clockwise to pivot a lever 18 so as to bring a lug 20a against contact 4a. Further depression of release 2 brings it into contact with lug 6c of lever 6, pivoting the latter so that its lug 6b comes away from contact 4a; this, however, is still held open by lug 20a of lever 18. The pivoting movement of lever 6 also brings its lug 6a out of recess 8a, and since lug 2b has moved down out of contact with disc 10, the latter turns anti-clockwise till it abuts against a pin 8b on disc 8, in which position disc 10 covers up the recess 8a. When the camera release 2 is now liberated to return to its original position, member 16 and pin 17 also return to their original positions, together with lever 18. Retraction of this latter allows the switch contacts 4a, 4b to close, and energize the motor drive 9. This re-sets the shutter, via gear wheels 12,13 and a spindle 14, and also transports the film. In addition, it turns discs 8 and 10 a complete revolution anti-clockwise, bringing them back to the position of Fig. 1, and so re-opening the recess 8a to re-admit lug 6a of lever 6, the lug 6b at the other end of the lever consequently opening the switch contacts again to break the motor circuit once more. Fig. 2 (not shown) is a modified arrangement with only one lever, co-operating directly with pin 17 and a cam on disc 10.
