Abstract

972,575. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. April 26,1963 [April 28, 1962], No. 16427/63. Heading G3P. A hydralic actuator 7 operating e.g. an agricultural earth-moving implement is controlled by a valve apparatus comprising an exhaust valve 48 which is opened by an abutment 51 to exhaust the actuator on rightward movement of a pilot valve 19, and a plunger valve 36 controlled by the valve 19 within which it is slidable and controlling an exhaust passage from a conduit 2,12, 42 leading from a pump 3 past a pressure relief valve 18 and through a check valve 43 to the actuator. With the parts in the positions shown pump pressure in the conduit 12 and in an annular recess 13 can pass by way of external flats 33 on the valve 19 and holes 34 to a chamber within the valve 19 to hold the valve 36 against a loading spring 39 so that fluid from the pump can escape through holes 40 to a drain chamber 15. Leftward movement of the valve 19 cuts off the flats 33 from the recess 13 and connects them to drain through an annular groove 32 so that the valve 36 is moved by its spring to close the holes 40 and thereby cause the pumped fluid to open the check valve 43 and extend the actuator. Shock due to sudden closure of the valve 36 is prevented by the provision of a throttled escape path constituted by grooves 52 in the valve 19 and arranged to be closed if the valve moves sufficiently to the left. The escape path may include a throttled passage in the housing or it may be provided by longitudinal grooves in the valve 19 which are curved or stepped to give gradual closure. Actuation of the valve 19 is by a cam shaped element 23 interposed between a pin 20 on the valve and a lever 25 of a follow-up connection 27, 28, 29 from the actuator. As shown, the element 23 is eccentrically connected to the spindle 21 of a lever 22 for manual actuation but it may be operated by means responsive to the depth of the implement in the ground or its drag.
