972,336. Extrusion apparatus. T. & T. VICARS Ltd. July 3, 1963 [July 11, 1962], No. 26609/62. Heading B5A. A machine for extruding plastic materials comprises roller means 12 communicating with a hopper reservoir 10 which contains a plastic material, and co-operating with a die box 16 detachably carried by the machine to form a compression chamber 14 and in said die box 16, there is at least one discharge tube having a discharge aperture 28 circumscribing a discharge aperture 26, the first aperture 28 being in communication with the reservoir 10, and the second aperture 26 being in communication with a reservoir 18 for a second plastic material mounted on the die box 16. The die box 16 preferably has a plurality of apertures 26, 28 spaced equally along its length. Plastic material, e.g. fig jam, is fed to the reservoir 18 through a distributing tube 34, with a plurality of orifices 40 so spaced as to equalize the pressure within the reservoir 18 and then through passages 22 and tubes 25 to be extruded through apertures 26. Simultaneously, other plastic material, e.g. dough, from reservoir 10 is extruded around it through apertures 28 due to the action of rollers 12. Adjustments to both sets of apertures 26 and 28 by means of adjusting screws 24 and the adjustable plates 29 respectively may be made.
