Abstract

972,280. Washing machines. HOOVER Ltd. May 4, 1961 [May 12, 1960; Jan. 2, 1961], Nos. 13453/61 (Divided out of 972,278) and 153/61. Heading D1A. In a washing and spin-drying machine comprising an impeller C mounted in a recess in the end wall of a rotary container B the peripheral wall of the container is secured to a rigid hub 25 which is provided with a flange 27 extending outwardly a substantial distance beyond'the impeller recess, the peripheral wall being secured to the flange 27 at or adjacent its outer periphery but extending inwards to overlie the flange. As shown, the flange 27 is generally conical with stiffening ribs 28 and has an outer radially extending annular portion 30 to which a corresponding portion 20 of the container wall is bolted. An inner tapered portion 18 of the container has an axial flange 22 received in a packing ring 23 in a recess 24 in the hub 25. The container B rotates in a resiliently suspended outer container (Fig. 1, not shown).
