[Also in Division G3] In a fluid-pressure-operated servo device for a fluid-pressure braking system, the thrust member 5 coupling the piston 2 of the servo-device to a servo-operated master cylinder 4 is provided with a passage 14 connecting a source of hydraulic fluid via inlet 19 from a pedaloperated master cylinder for actuating a valve 3 to control the operation of the servo device. The servo device is shown in its non-operative condition in Fig. 1 wherein opposed sides of the servo piston 2 are open to vacuum through the central aperture of an annular member 28, a servo disc valve 40 controlling the supply of atmospheric pressure (via a flexible tube 7) being closed. Upon actuation of the pedaloperated master cylinder (not shown) hydraulic fluid passes into the hollow thrust member 5 via inlet 19, pipe 18 and radial drillings 20, and a plunger 26 in the servo piston 2 is moved outwardly. This movement of the plunger 26 is transmitted through a rod 27 to an annular member 28 towards a closure disc valve 38 the closure of the central aperture of the annular member 28 by the disc valve 38 isolating one side of the servo piston 2 from the vacuum source. Continued movement of the plunger 26 causes axial movement of a valve stem 39 so that a second disc valve 40 is moved off its seating whereby air is admitted to the isolated side of the servo piston, the resulting axial movement of the piston causing corresponding movement of the master cylinder piston 16, the thrust being transmitted through the hollow thrust member 5.
