Abstract

970,180. Endless conveyers. THOMAS HUNTER Ltd. Feb. 28, 1963 [April 10, 1962], No. 13881/62. Heading B8A. Jars 3 arriving on conveyer 4 are located in respective recesses 11 of an endless belt 10 by the action of a surface 8 which is either stationary or is formed by an endless belt moving at a slower speed than the belt 10. Thus, each jaw, if it engages the belt 10 at a location not corresponding with a recess 11, is rotated and travels at a slower linear speed than that of the belt 10 until it engages the next recess 11. The surface 8 is spring urged by members 14 in the direction of the belt 10. The surface 8 may alternatively be made of a pad of foamed material or may be formed by an inflated tube. In a modification (Figs. 3, 4, not shown), the recesses 11 are deeper and closer together, and the jaws travel on a deadplate instead of the conveyer 4.
