969,755. Electric incinerators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 12, 1961 [July 12, 1960], No. 24272/60. Heading H5H. An electric heating element 11 and an inclined grate 15 are so positioned in the combustion chamber 5 of an electric incinerator that bandages deposited on the grate are directed into contact with the heating element. The upper sloping face of an angular baffle 8 directs ash falling through the grate 15 to an ash pan 16. Air entering the casing 1 through an expanded metal mesh 10 passes over a transformer 14 connected to the element 11 by leads 13 and is directed by the lower face of the baffle 8 to the region adjacent the lower end of the grate 15 where the bandages are most likely to lie. The element 11 is a nickel-chrome rod in the shape of an inverted U.
