969,378. Toothbrushes. H. E McEACHRAN. July 25, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 15662/62. Heading A4K. On pushing toothbrush shaft 18 into pressurized container 1, outlet orifices 28 are freed from blocking engagement with fixed resilient washer 25 and allow the contents of the container to pass through from bore 17 to bristles 38. When sufficient toothpaste has been supplied to the brush, shaft 18 is released to allow spring 29 to return separate end section 26 so that groove 31 again receives washer 25, and spring 30 to project shaft 18 so that its end flange 21 abuts end wall 32. Splines 23 engage notches 24 to prevent any relative rotation between the brush 35 and the container 1. According to the Provisional Specification, the shaft can be locked in the extended position. Cap 39 is a press fit on container 1.
