Abstract

1,2-bis(alkoxycarbonylphenyl)-1, 1, 2, 2-tetrachloroethanes are prepared by heating in a solvent a benzene compound substituted with a trichloromethyl radical and a carboxylic acid alkyl ester group, in presence of copper. The preparation of 1,2-bis-(m-methoxycarbonylphenyl) tetrachloroethane and its p-analogue are exemplified.
