Abstract

968,918. Filter presses. JOHN C. CARLSON Ltd. April 4, 1963 [April 4, 1962], No. 13004/62. Heading B1D. A filter plate for a filter press comprises a frame 1 having two spaced eyes 4 giving access through the frame to both surfaces of a corrugated supporting plate 2 for a filter medium which is secured to the frame, the corrugated plate being provided with deformations or cut out portions 8 extending transversely of the corrugations to provide for distribution of liquid entering through the eyes over the surface of the corrugated plate. As shown in Fig. 1 the plate is rectangular and may be fabricated from stainless steel. An access channel 5 communicates with eyes 4 and permits passage of liquid to both sides of plate 2. The plate may be secured to the frame by spot or seam welding. As shown in Fig. 4 the frame has on both sides a tongue 9 extending inwardly in the region between the eyes, extending partially into the groove 8 in the corrugated plate. There may be provided additionally strips which are welded to the frame across the eyes on both sides of the plate in order to serve as baffles and reduce any tendency of a filter sheet in the immediate vicinity of the eyes to be torn or eroded by the entry of the liquid.
