968,841. Lubricating. M. S. ABRAMOWICZ. Sept. 13, 1960 [Sept. 22, 1959; Aug. 3, 1960], No. 29804/60. Heading F2A. [Also in Division D1] A dispenser for supplying lubricant to a bearing of a sewing-machine or the work being sewn thereby (see Division D1) has a valve operable by the vibration of the machine when running to control the flow of lubricant. The reservoir 2 has a passage 17 communicating with a tube 4 pivotally mounted in the housing 5 and urged downwardly, when the tube is lowered from the position shown in Fig. 1, by a spring. A ball 16 seated on the passage 17 prevents the flow of lubricant except when the machine is running, when the vibration of the machine causes the ball to chatter on its seat. In another embodiment for use with volatile liquids a similar ball valve is provided at the top cap of the reservoir. In a third embodiment for use with viscous fluids a ball valve is provided only at the top of the reservoir to regulate the fluid flow by controlling the flow of air into the reservoir.
