Abstract
968,100. Controlling television camera tubes; pulse clipping circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 19, 1961 [April 22, 1960], No. 14152/61. Headings H3T, H4F and H4T. In a circuit for controlling the sensitivity of a television camera tube V, the video output signal of the tube is applied via a variable threshold stage T3 to control the resistance of a stage T4 which functions as a variable leakage path for an integrating circuit C1, R2, the resulting voltage across the integrating circuit being applied to the target of the tube via resistor R3. The time constant of C1, R2 is made equal to at least one television frame period and preferably much longer so that the voltage applied to the tube target is proportional to the mean value by which the video signal exceeds the threshold level set by stage T3. The threshold level is made adjustable by potentiometer R1. A Zener diode Z limits the maximum potential applied to the camera tube target when the signal level is low. Stage T1 is an emitter follower; stage T2 is a damp stage which is rendered conductive by blanking signals applied at B. The valve in stage T4 may be replaced by a transistor.
