Abstract

968,066. Road vehicle spring suspensions. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. May 17, 1963 [May 25, 1962], No. 19814/63. Heading B7D. In a motor vehicle suspension a telescopic leg 9 incorporating a fluid spring is connected to a suspension link 2 by a part-spherical rubber mounting 10 disposed solely on the side of the link 2 facing the leg 9 and having its convex surface toward the leg. The rubber is attached by vulcanizing or adhesive to a herispherical body on the link 2 and to a concave fitting secured to the leg 9. Alternatively, or in addition, a universally movable connection between the upper end of the leg 9 and the vehicle frame may include a similar rubber mounting. In another arrangement (Fig. 4, not shown), the rubber mounting connects a horizontally arranged telescopic spring to the vertical arm of a bell-crank lever pivoted about a transverse axis and carrying a wheel on its horizontal arm. The mounting may also be used to connect a spring to a swing axle.
