Abstract

967,867. Removable containers with lifting jacks. S. BACK. Nov. 28, 1962 [Nov. 30, 1961], No. 45070/62. Heading B8E. A removable load container body for a truck or trailer comprises a rectangular body frame with a jack at each corner to support the body while a vehicle is positioned under it. The jacks 18 have stub shafts 14 fitting in tubular members 12 of the longitudinal frame members 10. The supporting members 28 of the jacks have a convex upper surface to engage a concave bearing member 29 at the ends of transverse frame members 23. A stop 33 engages a recess 34 to prevent rotation of the jack when it is in its outer operative position but when it is moved inwardly it can be rotated 90 degrees to a horizontal stowing position. A hollow shaft 25 secured to the jack slides over a corresponding shaft on the jack at the other side of the vehicle so that they rotate together.
