Abstract
A process for the production of 1,9-dihalogenodecaorganopentasiloxanes comprises reacting a diorganodihalogenosilane with an octaorganocyclotetrasiloxane under superatmospheric pressure in a glass-lined vessel in the absence of a catalyst. The organic groups may be alkyl, aryl or alkenyl. Pressures from 1 to 200 atmospheres and temperatures of 200-400 DEG C. are suitable. The examples describe the reaction of dimethyldichlorosilane with octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane in molar ratios from 1.5:1 to 1:2, at temperatures from 250 DEG C. to 400 DEG C., at 80 atmospheres before heating. The reactions under autogeneous pressure (10-15 atm.) of diphenyl-, vinylmethyl-, and dimethyldichlorsilanes with octamethyl-cyclotetrasiloxane at 300 DEG C. are also described.
