Abstract

967,640. Plate heat exchangers. SEPARATOR A.B. Nov. 9, 1961 [Nov. 11, 1960], No. 40160/61. Heading F4S. A plate heat exchanger in which adjacent plates have edge recesses for accommodating gaskets is characterized in that the lateral boundary lines of the longitudinal sides of the recesses are displaced in a regular manner such that the displaced parts of the recesses in one plate at least partly rest on a non-recessed plane surface of an adjacent plate. As shown, the boundary lines of the recess 2 in plate 1 have a sinusoidal form which is 180 degrees out of phase with the sinusoidal form in the adjacent plate (shown in dotted lines). Fig. 3 (not shown), illustrates a recess with regular protrusions in its sides which are displaced from the corresponding protrusions in an adjacent plate. In this embodiment the recess is braced by bulges in its bottom surface. Supporting projections 11, 12 are shown in adjacent plates.
