Abstract

1,048,816. Securing nuts to work; locking nuts. V. F. ZAHODIAKIN. Aug. 22, 1963 [May 27, 1963], No. 33324/63. Heading F2H. A sheet-metal nut 22, Fig. 2, or 42, Figs. 6, 7, is locked to a panel 20 or 43 by a spring 23 or 52 which is flexed to slide under lugs 41 or 56 formed at opposite sides of the nut. The spring 52 is of general diamond shape as shown with bent ends 55 for locating in notches 50 in the curved ends 49 of the nut 42 and in corresponding holes 51 in the panel 43. Two corners 46 of the nut 42 are retained in ears 47 on the panel 43. In the other embodiment, the spring 23 has ends with walls 39, 40, Figs. 2, 4, forming pockets which embrace two fingers 33, struck out of the panel 20 and overlying narrow ends 30 of the nut 22. This nut 22 is of a shape generally similar to that of the spring 23, Fig. 4, with the two ends 30 extending from a circular portion, Fig. 1 (not shown). The broken lines of Fig. 2 indicate the flexing of the spring 23 to slide under the nut lugs 41 until the end pockets 39, 40 are located. Both nuts 22, 42 have a central hole 25 with a helical edge 29 and a margin divided into resilient segments 28.
