[Also in Division B8] In a fork lift truck in which the mast structure and control cabin 19 are movable laterally across the truck (see Division B8), the ground wheels 21 are steerable hydraulically in pairs under the control of hand levers 97, 98, Fig. 4. Bowden cables pass from lever 97 in the cabin along pivoted links 108, 109 within the truck frame and the sheaths 103, 104 are secured to a lever 115, pivoted at 116, and the cables 101, 102 are secured to a lever 117 pivoted at 118. The lever 117 is connected by links 120, 121 to a rotatable shaft 122 provided with an arm 123 which is connected by a link 124 to a steering arm 125 coupled to the steering arm 127. A double-acting hydraulic ram 128 is pivoted between the truck frame and steering arm 127 and is supplied with fluid through pipes 131, 132 under the action of a control valve 119. In operation, when the lever 97 is moved to turn the related wheels, the reaction resisting turning movement acting on lever 117 sets up a force on the Bowden cable sheaths causing the lever 115 to operate control valve 119 and energize ram 128 to effect the steering movement until the forces on levers 117, 115 are again in equilibrium. The other pair of wheels is controlled similarly by hand lever 98. At each end of the truck, axle bars 75 for the wheels 21 are pivoted between plates 73 and are connected by links 83 and arms 81, which are pivoted between the plates 73, to a crosshead 86 on an hydraulic ram 89, 90 for effecting raising and lowering of the truck with respect to the ground. The plates 73 at each end of the truck are secured to a tube 72 rotatably mounted in a bearing sleeve 71 on the truck frame. The wheels 21 at each side of the truck are interconnected by bell-crank levers 93, each having one arm connected to brackets 92 on the plates 73, the other arms being connected by a link extending longitudinally of the truck.
