Abstract
A preservation ingredient for paints comprises 5-fluorocytosine.ALSO:Process for preserving foodstuffs of plant or animal origin against fungal attack compises treating foodstuffs with 5-fluorocytosine or a composition containing same in admixture with a compatible edible carrier. The 5-fluorocytosine may be used in a solution or suspension and sprayed on to the food.ALSO:Antifungal compositions comprise 5-fluorocytosine, as active ingredient, in admixture with a solid compatible carrier adapted for the intended use of the compositions. For pharmaceutical application, the compositions may take the form of capsules and tablets. The active ingredient may also be used, with or without a compatible solid or liquid carrier, for preserving crops, livestock, leather, textiles, paper &c. against fungal attack.
