966,716. Automatic exchange systems; gating circuits. FERNMELDEWERK ARNSTADT VEB. Sept. 29, 1961, No. 35151/61. Headings H3P, H3T, H4K and H4R. A switch for interconnecting pairs of telephone lines Tlnl, Tln2 comprises a series arrangement of two pairs of oppositely poled diodes D1, D2; D3; D4, with ohmic resistances R1, R3 connected between each of the pairs of diodes and points E1, E2 and a further ohmic resistance R5 connected between the pairs of diodes and a point F3 of fixed potential, connection being established by applying switching potentials to points E1 and E2. The diodes may be replaced by bi-stable diodes capable of being switched on by a pulse. A pair of diodes may be replaced by a symmetrical transistor. The arrangement shown is a balanced one but an unbalanced arrangement may be used, Fig. 3 (not shown) in which the incoming lines are connected to the network via transformers, a negative impedance being included in series with the network-side winding to compensate for losses introduced thereby.
