Abstract

966,598. Transistor gating circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 20, 1962 [Nov. 24, 1961], No. 42208/61. Heading H3T. In a gating circuit in which an oscillatory signal is passed by the gate when a first control signal exceeds a second, the gate is held open at least for a predetermined minimum time, even if the first control signal exceeds the second for less than this time. If the potential applied at terminal 1 is less than that at terminal 2, transistor 3 is cut off, transistor 6 is only slightly conducting and transistor 15 is cut off, preventing a square wave signal applied to terminal 19 from reaching the output terminal 24. If terminal 1 becomes more positive than terminal 2, transistors 3, 6, 15 become fully conducting, and the input at 19 is passed by transistor 15 to the output 24. Part of the square wave output at the collector of transistor 15 is rectified by diode 27 and is applied via capacitor 28 to bias transistor 6 in the conducting direction, so that this transistor, and hence transistor 15, will remain conducting at least until the change in charge on capacitor 28 is completed even if the potential at terminal 1 drops below that at terminal 2 before this time.
