965,422. Shearing. MOLLER & NEUMANN G.m.b.H. Nov. 8, 1960, No. 38302/60. Heading B3W. A flying-shear comprises blade-supports 1, 3 rocked along the work-path, crank pins or eccentrics 6, 7 offset at 180 degrees from each other for effecting shearing operations of the holders 1, 3, and means for displacing one of the blades so that its strokes are no longer effective for cutting the work. Drive from the crank or eccentric shaft 5 to the lower blade-support 3 is by connecting-rods 9 that pivot on eccentrics 15 of a shaft 16 bearing at 17 in the support 3. The support 3 slides in the support 1 which is mounted on the eccentrics 6 and rocked by connecting rods 11 driven by a crank or eccentric shaft 13 which is coupled (not shown) to the crank-shaft 5. Rotation of the shaft 16 through 180 degrees, by a rack and pinions 18, 19, lowers the bottom blade 4 for miscutting. Instead of the eccentric shaft 16, further eccentrics may be arranged at the lower ends of the connecting rods 9. Stops (Fig. 3, not shown) on the shaft 16 co-operate with an abutment on the blade support 3, and the rack is mounted on a cylinder (Fig. 2, not shown) traversed by fluid fed to either side of a piston, through passages in the piston-rod.
