A corn-removing appliance comprises a manually operable suction device having an annular cutter 17 at its forward end. A piston 12 is reciprocable in a chamber 10 which carries at the end to be applied to a corn the annular cutter 11. The chamber may be made of resilient material, e.g. rubber, and have a neck (not shown) which fits around a plunger, the plunger and neck being telescoped into the chamber to discharge air therefrom before application to the corn. The piston may have grooves 18 or holes (not shown) for the reception of a U-shaped plate 19 or pin (not shown) for limiting the stroke of the piston. The device has interchangeable cutters of different sizes.
