Abstract

A pharmaceutical preparation comprises ferrioxamine B, which may be made according to the methods described in Specification 963,904, or a physiologically tolerable acid addition salt thereof in admixture or conjunction with a pharmaceutical carrier suitable for enteral or parenteral administration. Specified carriers are gelatine, lactose, starches, magnesium stearate, talc, vegetable oils, benzyl alcohol, gums, polyalkylene glycol, white petroleum jelly or cholesterol. The preparation may be in solid form or in solution, suspension or emulsion. They contain 5 to 500 mgs. of the active substance per dosage or from 0.1 to 20% by weight of the substance. The preparations possess anti-anaemic properties.
