Abstract

963,160. Granulating-machines. SCOTTISH AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 2, 1963 [April 9, 1962], No. 13538/62. Heading B5A. A granulating drum 1 has cups 7 which pick material up and deposit it on an inclined shoot 4 to transfer it to the entry end of the drum. The shoot is supported by a fixed rod 5. Pipes 10, 11 are provided for the addition of liquids or gases. In a modification, Fig. 2, cups 20 pick up material and drop it into an outlet shoot 19. A duct 18 is provided for removing effluent gas. In a further modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the discharge end is closed except for holes which are periodically in alignment as the drum rotates. Granular ammonium phosphate may be produced from wet-process phosphoric acid and gaseous ammonia.
