961,681. Guards for ice skates. CANADA CYCLE & MOTOR CO. Ltd. Dec. 12, 1961 [April 15, 1961], No. 13668/61. Addition to 937,059. Heading A6D. A safety guard for tubebladed skates comprises a body incorporating a blunt toe and a shank of smaller cross-sectional area, the shank being capable of being secured in the rear end of the blade carrying tube of the skate to cause a portion of the toe to project beyond the rear end of the blade and tube, the body being recessed in an area surrounding the inner end of the shank to form a socket for receiving and surrounding an end portion of the tube of the skate. The toe 13 of the safety guard has a socket 16 in which one end of the blade tube 10 engages when the guard shank 14 is inserted therein. The socket is extended to form a further recessed portion 17 which engages a portion of the end of the blade 11.
