Abstract

961,217. Armour. L. H. D. M. BALLU. Feb. 8, 1961, No. 4726/61. Heading F3X. Armouring for stationary installations, vehicles, ships and the like comprises an inside light alloy armour forming the walls of the body to be protected and an outside armour of extra hard steel having a high elastic limit. In the preferred embodiment the outside armour is in the form of plates or scales and is attached to the inside armour by an elastomeric adhesive. The plates or scales may be removed by drilling through the inside armour and injecting a solvent into the adhesive under pressure.
