Abstract

960,999. Accelerometers. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. March 13, 1963 [March 15, 1962], No. 9903/63. Heading G1K. [Also in Division G4] The angular acceleration of a shaft 1 is monitored by making the shaft drive a pulse generating tachometric dynamo 2 which delivers its pulses through two gates 3, 4 to each of the two inputs of a digital difference-forming unit 5, the gates being opened and closed in alternation at equal intervals by a multi-vibrator 6, the output of the unit 5 thus being proportional to the angular acceleration and operating a relay 11 through a gate 7 by a pulse generated when a preset difference is exceeded. The unit 5 may comprise two counters 8, 9 connected to a common difference counter 10 or a single reversible counter may count forwards and backwards in alternate intervals.
