946,140. Electric selective signalling systems. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. March 14, 1962 [May 4, 1961], No. 16230/61. Heading G4H. In a system for measuring speed and torque, apertured discs 5, Fig. 1, one at each end of a shaft 3,photoelectrically produce two pulse trains the frequency of which corresponds to the speed of the shaft and the phase difference between which to the torque applied to the shaft. The two quantities are measured by counting clock-pulses for appropriate periods.
