Abstract

Polyepoxy compounds are modified by reacting them at a temperature below 100 DEG C. with a tetradiol ester of ortho titanic acid. They are then hardened if desired in admixture with unmodified polyglycidyl ether resins with conventional hardening agents which do not contain nitrogen, to make moulded articles. In examples (1) tetraglycol orthotitanate is mixed with the diglycidyl ether of propane diol. Hexahydrophthalic acid is added and the mixture cast and hardened at 150 DEG C. (2) Tetraglycol orthotitanate is heated at 60 DEG C. for 2 hours with the diglycidyl ether of butane diol. Dodecenyl succinic acid anhydride is added and the mixture cast and hardened at 120 DEG C. (3) Tetra hexanediol ortho titanate is heated for 1 hour at 80 DEG C. with the diglycidyl ether of propane diol. The product is hardened with hexahydrophthalic anhydride. (4) The tetra bisphenol A ester of titanic acid is reacted with the polyglycidyl ether of propane diol and the product hardened in known manner. Specification 783,621 is referred to.
