Abstract
There is described a method for the cultivation of plants, comprising positioning a plurality of plants (p1, p2) in a number of vertically spaced rows extending circumferentially about a rotating column (1), and arranging a vertically extending linear array of light sources to illuminate the plants (p1, p2) with light from a horizontal direction. An installation for the cultivation of plants, comprising a vertical column (1) rotatable about its axis, the column (1) having at least one circumferentially extending growing area (2) wherein plants (p1, p2) may be rooted in a growth substrate, the column (1) providing means for supporting and training the plants for growth in a predetermined direction, and the installation further comprising at least one vertically extending linear light source providing illumination to the plants, is also described.
